The social media sites that I mostly use are Reddit, Youtube and Whatsapp. Aside from Whatsapp I don’t really have to use the other 2 everyday so this challenge/diet should be easy.
February 6th:
9.30: I wake up in the morning with the intention of doing the social media diet thingy so I don’t reach for my phone as I usually do when I wake up.
10.00: I’m having breakfast and watching TV so it’s going pretty easy.
11.00: After watching some useless programs on TV, I decided to open my computer to play some games. By this point I haven’t even disabled the airplane mode on my phone just because there is no need for it as I can’t even reply Whatsapp messages.
14.30: For some reason, the game got boring after I lost so I grabbed my guitar and started to practice it. There is this song called “I” by Black Sabbath which has really good riffs but they’re kinda hard to play (at least to me they are).
16.00: Anyway I did that for 1 hour, ate something but there was nothing left to do and time wasn’t passing and it was getting really boring. All that time I thought about looking at my phone and browsing social media, it was getting so hard. Just joking it’s really not that hard when you can play games so I started another game on my computer.
23.00: I played games for 3 hours, ate dinner and watched Tv until I got tired (I got tired earlier than I usually do because I was not looking at my phone) so I did go to bed.
February 7th:
8.30: I wake up again but this time couldn’t care less about the diet so just looked at my phone and there were a lot of notifications. So yeah I just quit and looked at social media.
All in all this wasn’t really helpful because I still looked at my computer or the Tv all day and also because we are in a digital age where social media is a part of our lives so taking it out just makes our lives harder but yeah from this experiment I realized that I could do more things than I usually do everyday.
